Bourns Announces the Release of the Model SSD Shunt Sensor - Digital Series

100 Amps with CANbus or RS-485/MODBUS Interface


Riverside, California – June 28, 2024 – In line with our commitment to provide products with innovative designs, superior quality and exceptional value, Bourns Sensors and Controls announces the release of the Model SSD Shunt Sensor – Digital Series with CANbus or RS-485/MODBUS Interface.


The Bourns® Model SSD Series includes innovatively designed digital DC shunt-based current sensors that offer superior accuracy, stability, and electrical isolation over a wide -40 °C to +115 °C operating temperature range, even in certain harsh industrial environments.


“We are excited to bring this new range of sensors to market,” said Michel Potvin, President of Bourns’ Sensors Division. “This new family of small and highly-integrated digital System-in-Package (SiP) devices is ideal for a wide range of battery-related current sensing applications including EV charging stations, energy storage, renewable energy generation infrastructure, industrial motor drives, and building automation systems. They will allow design engineers to bring higher levels of efficiencies to their designs.”

  • 1500 VDC reinforced galvanic isolation

  • <0.1 % tolerance

  • 16-bit +150 °C microcontroller

  • 24-bit ADC with buffered analog inputs

  • ECC flash memory with autocorrect single bit errors

  • Internal and external CRC data error detection

  • Advanced non-linear temperature compensation

  • RoHS compliant*

The 100 Amp Model SSD Series will soon be expanded to include 1000 A, 500 A, and 250 A models.
